Due to your wonderful support, the Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) in India provides hundreds of animals each month with relief from pain and suffering. In July, the caring veterinary team treated 223 camels for various ailments. They also provided assistance for 451 other animals, including working horses, goats and cows.

Namigni Animal Sanctuary in Colombia recently rescued multiple animals in desperate need, including a rejected calf from a bullfighting breeding farm, a discarded mare, four disabled ponies and an elderly donkey. Thanks to your kind support, these animals have all been successfully rehomed or will continue living at the sanctuary.

Our partner group, Action for Protection of Wild Animals (APOWA), aim to improve the lives and welfare of working animals in rural India. During July, they provided direct veterinary care for 102 horses and bullocks, and trained owners in animal health, welfare and humane husbandry. This ensures sustainable change is occurring to enhance the lives and wellbeing of working animals in this region long-term.

With your invaluable support, the Zambezi Working Donkey Project (ZWDP) are creating a better future for all donkeys in Zambia. The veterinary team reached 193 donkeys last month, while their harness-making program led to 17 cruel ox yokes being replaced with humane harnesses. These ensure donkeys experience less pain and injuries while working, and greatly improve their welfare.

At our partner sanctuary run by Lake Zone Animal Welfare Organization (LAZAWO), rescued donkeys receive all the gentle care, dignity and respect they deserve. Last month, they rescued three more donkeys in dire need. Thanks to your invaluable support, we are transforming the lives of these special donkeys.

Our partner group in Tanzania, Lake Zone Animal Welfare Organization (LAZAWO), provided 456 donkeys with essential veterinary care last month. They particularly focus on vulnerable donkeys working in the gold mines of Geita. Through their educational programs, LAZAWO are also creating long-term change for donkeys by improving community behaviours and attitudes around animal welfare.

In South Africa, the dedicated team at Blind Love are continuing to transform the lives of working equines through nurturing care, dignity and better welfare. During July, they provided veterinary care and treatment for 71 horses and 54 donkeys. They also participated in a special community event, which helped to celebrate donkeys!

The Blue Cross of India (BCI) in Chennai cares for vulnerable working animals who have been injured, abandoned, or are seriously unwell. Due to your compassionate support, the veterinary team ensures these animals can recover and experience a good quality of life again.

Our partner group, Animal Care in Egypt (ACE), treated over 2,000 working equines during July. This included horses and donkeys with various medical issues - such as colic and lameness - along with 53 animals admitted to their hospital for more intensive care.

In Bangalore, India, Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, is caring for more than 120 rescued working animals at their sanctuary. With your support, four more animals were rescued this quarter, including two ponies from an abusive situation and a mare with her foal following a severe accident.
