In June, the Blue Cross of India (BCI), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, provided veterinary care for more than 30 working animals and attended to 29 emergency cases across Chennai. Their work included routine treatments, follow‑up visits, and the rescue of an abandoned pony, showing how timely intervention and rehabilitation can transform the lives of working animals.

In Karnataka, India, the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre (WRRC), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, provides holistic rehabilitation for elephants rescued from decades of exploitation. Through veterinary care, tailored nutrition, and enrichment activities, these gentle giants are regaining health, dignity, and the ability to express natural behaviours.

In the first six months of 2026, the Zambezi Working Donkey Project (ZWDP), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, reached 1,323 donkeys and educated 340 owners in Zambia. Through mobile clinics, emergency rescues, and community engagement, the project is creating lasting improvements in donkey welfare and strengthening the bond between animals and the people who depend on them.

In Udaipur, India, Animal Aid Unlimited (AAU), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, provides hospital and sanctuary care for donkeys rescued from illness, injury, and neglect. Through veterinary treatment and lifelong sanctuary support, these animals are finding relief, recovery, and dignity.

In June, the Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, reached 123 working donkeys with veterinary care and owner education. Their work shows that respectful community engagement is essential to changing attitudes, improving knowledge, and creating lasting welfare improvements for working animals.

In Anakapalle, India, the Visakha Society for Protection and Care of Animals (VSPCA), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, is working to improve the welfare of bullocks in the sugarcane industry. Through medical camps, vaccination drives, rescues, and owner education, they are transforming the lives of animals who are often neglected or abandoned.

In Jodhpur, India, rescued camels are finding safety, veterinary care, and dignity at the Friendicoes Camel Rescue Centre. Supported by Animal Aid Abroad, the sanctuary not only provides lifelong care for residents but also reaches camels in surrounding villages, ensuring that animals once neglected now receive treatment and compassion.

In June, APOWA, supported by Animal Aid Abroad, reached hundreds of working animals in remote areas of India with veterinary care, preventive health programs, and owner education. These interventions improved animal health, reduced disease risks, and empowered communities to provide better long‑term care.

In June, Animal Care in Egypt (ACE), supported by Animal Aid Abroad, delivered lifesaving veterinary care to more than 2,000 working donkeys and horses. Through outpatient clinics and hospital admissions, equines suffering from wounds, lameness, respiratory infections, and other conditions received treatment, relief, and dignity.

Working animals across the world are exploited in tourism, cultural traditions and religious practices. From Himalayan mules to temple elephants, camels abandoned after tourism collapse, and bulls rescued from fighting rings, Animal Aid Abroad and its partners are delivering veterinary care, sanctuary and dignity to animals whose suffering often goes unseen.
