Sanctuary Update
At the Animal Birth Control sanctuary, 27 donkeys are currently receiving lifelong care. Snow Flake, a male resident, suffered a hoof wound in March that was treated with daily bandaging and antibiotics, healing fully by May. Sandra, another resident, recovered from a chest wound by mid‑June after consistent care and monitoring. These cases show how dedicated treatment restores comfort and wellbeing for animals once burdened by hardship.
New Admissions and Ongoing Care
In June, AAU rescued a donkey suffering from plastic rope wounds on his legs, a common injury caused when animals are tied improperly. With careful treatment, his wounds are healing well. Another rescue involved a male donkey with a severe ear infection, reported through the helpline. After treatment and recovery, he was released back into his community in June.
Other cases included a donkey with a leg infection following a fight, who remains under treatment, and another with a closed hind leg fracture. After intensive care, the latter recovered fully and was returned to his owners in May.
