Increasing Awareness and Understanding of Working Donkey Welfare in Geita, Tanzania
Lake Zone Animal Welfare Organization (LAZAWO) provided 382 working donkeys with veterinary care last month. Recently, they have notice increasing community awareness and understanding around donkey welfare, leading to more owners calling them for assistance.

From Brokenness to Healing: Caring for Working Animals in Egypt
Our new partner group, Animal Care in Egypt (ACE), treated an astonishing 2,000 working equines last month. This included providing intensive care for 23 donkeys and 28 horses in their hospital.
Thanks to your generous support, they are having an enormous impact on the lives and welfare of animals in Egypt.
Veterinary Care, Education & Water Troughs Improve Welfare for Working Animals in India
With your wonderful support, Action for Protection of Wild Animals (APOWA) in India provided 102 working horses and bullocks with essential veterinary care last month. They also vaccinated 353 animals, provided welfare training for 31 owners, and installed 15 community water troughs for thirsty working animals.

New Visitor & Education Centre in Zambia Boosts Donkey Welfare Knowledge
Thanks to your ongoing support, Zambezi Working Donkey Project (ZWDP) can work towards their vision of a Zambia where working donkeys are free from suffering and treated with compassion. In April, they provided 241 donkeys with essential veterinary care and also opened their brand new Visitor and Education Centre.

Working Equines in Rural Colombia Finally Receive Lifesaving Veterinary Care
During April, Namigni Animal Sanctuary held a mobile clinic to attend to working equines in the Bogotá savanna region of Colombia. These horses and mares rarely have access to veterinary care, and the team noted issues particularly with hoof maintenance and dental care.
In addition, they educated owners about low-stress handling techniques and better human-animal interactions to improve working equines’ welfare in this region.

Making Strides Toward Better Welfare for Working Donkeys in Lilongwe
Our partner group Lilongwe Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (LSPCA) assisted 103 working donkeys during April. Their interventions focused on treating and preventing workload-related stress and injuries, improving shelter hygiene, correct harnessing techniques and other owner education to improve donkey welfare long-term.

We are excited to welcome Maun Animal Welfare Society (MAWS) to the AAA family of partner groups this month.
MAWS will be delivering a mobile outreach program funded by AAA. The program will provide essential veterinary care and welfare support to working equines in remote villages across Ngamiland, Botswana.

AAA and Starting Over sanctuary in Israel cared for 67 donkeys and two mules in March, providing veterinary care, rehabilitation, and dignity for rescued animals.
