Indian Vet Team Offers Care, Dignity, and Sanctuary for Equines in Need
Animal Aid Abroad, together with our partner Help in Suffering (HIS), continues to transform the lives of working equines in India. In the past quarter, HIS provided essential veterinary treatment for 22 equines and cared for 12 rescued animals at their sanctuary, ensuring both immediate relief and long‑term welfare.

Veterinary Treatment and Monthly Camps
At the HIS campus and outpatient department, equines were treated for conditions such as colic, dental problems, worm burden, and wounds. Dental care was a major focus, with several horses receiving trimming and pain management to restore comfort. Cases included foals treated for colic and mares brought in for wound care and deworming.
During the monthly camp, five equines were seen, with treatments ranging from inappetence management to tetanus vaccinations and deworming. These camps extend veterinary care to working animals whose owners often lack access to affordable treatment.
Sanctuary Care in Bassi
HIS also runs a sanctuary at the Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi, currently home to 10 donkeys, one stallion, and a mule. All residents are healthy and receive daily care, safe shelter, and the dignity of living free from neglect or abuse.
Global Impact Made Possible by You
Every treatment, every sanctuary resident, and every camp is powered by your generosity. Together, AAA and HIS are proving that local partnerships are the key to global change — turning burden into care and ensuring working equines in India receive compassion, dignity, and lifelong protection.
