Three Beautiful Donkey Foals Born at Our Partner Sanctuary in Israel
At the Hope Complex in Israel, Starting Over, supported by Animal Aid Abroad, is caring for 61 rescued donkeys. In June, three jennies gave birth to healthy foals, marking a joyful milestone in the sanctuary’s mission to provide safety, rehabilitation, and dignity for animals once neglected or abused.
New Arrivals at the Hope Complex
During June, 11 donkeys entered the Hope Complex for treatment and rehabilitation. These included animals recovering from surgical procedures, underweight donkeys requiring close monitoring, and timid rescues beginning hoof rehabilitation. Each case reflects the sanctuary’s commitment to providing tailored care and a supportive environment.
Donkeys Leaving the Complex
Fifteen donkeys transitioned out of the Hope Complex last month. Four jennies and one donkey moved to the compound for older animals, while others joined rehabilitated herds after completing treatment for skin conditions, hoof injuries, or weight loss.
Among the most heart‑warming developments, three jennies were transferred to the maternity ward and gave birth to foals. Another jenny remains there, awaiting the birth of her young one. These births symbolise hope and renewal, showing how rescued animals can thrive when given proper care.
Rehabilitation Successes and Farewells
Several donkeys completed their rehabilitation, including one who regrew a partially amputated hoof and another young donkey supported with silicone shoes for an old fracture. Sadly, the sanctuary also said goodbye to a beloved elderly jenny who had lived at the Hope Complex for many years. Her passing was unexpected, but she spent her final years surrounded by compassion and attentive care.
Building a Future of Compassion
The births of three foals and the successful rehabilitation of multiple donkeys highlight the transformative impact of sanctuary care. Each recovery and each new life reflects the mission of AAA and its partners to restore dignity and wellbeing for working animals.
This progress is only possible because of your support. Every foal born, every donkey rehabilitated, and every life saved is a direct result of your generosity, allowing AAA to sustain partnerships like Starting Over and continue improving the welfare of working animals in Israel.
