Our partner group - Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) in Bassi, India - treated an incredible 310 camels in June. The hardworking team do not stop at camels and also provided essential veterinary care for 403 other animals in need, including horses, dogs and goats.

Two camel cases studies are below:

At the Sambhariya treatment site, Ramkishor brought his camel to our veterinary team after noticing she had stopped eating properly and appeared flat and uncomfortable. The camel was showing signs of abdominal discomfort, leaving Ramkishor worried about her health.

Our team examined the camel and diagnosed her with impaction. Timely treatment and supportive care were provided to relieve the condition and restore normal digestive function.

The owner was also advised on proper feeding and consistent provision of water. As the camel began recovering, Ramkishor expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the prompt assistance given.

During a visit to Vijaypura, our mobile veterinary team met Ramphool, who was concerned about his camel's worsening skin condition. The animal was constantly scratching, had patches of hair loss, and appeared restless due to persistent irritation.

Upon examination, our team diagnosed the camel with mange - a painful skin disease that can seriously affect an animal’s health. Treatment was started immediately, and Ramphool was guided on proper hygiene and follow-up care to support recovery.

As the itching gradually reduced and the camel became more comfortable, Ramphool felt relieved and thankful that his valued companion was finally on the road to recovery.

In June, we saw many working horses, goats, dogs, cows and sheep. Some were treated for different ailments, and some came in for deworming and vaccination.

We treated a total of 403 animals other than camels.

alleviating a Goat’s suffering

Kamlesh brought his goat to our CRC centre after noticing a large swelling beneath her abdomen, which had gradually become painful and was clearly uncomfortable. Worried that the swelling was increasing in size, he sought veterinary assistance.

Upon examination, our team diagnosed it as a large abscess requiring immediate treatment. The abscess was carefully incised under hygienic conditions, allowing a large amount of pus to drain out. The wound was thoroughly cleaned and dressed, and appropriate medicines were administered to control pain and prevent infection. Kamlesh was advised on regular wound dressing and follow-up care.

Relieved that the abscess had been treated successfully, Kamlesh thanked the team and left hopeful that his goat will completely recover.
