Camel Rescue Centre
The Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi celebrated World Camel Day on June 22nd with great enthusiasm, bringing together camel owners and their families from surrounding communities, along with our Trustees, CEO, Operational Director, government veterinary officer, and students from the Government Veterinary College.
The event featured an educational poster exhibition on camel health, welfare, and management, as well as an entertaining puppet show that effectively spread awareness about responsible camel care.
Camel owners from different areas had the opportunity to meet, share their experiences, and exchange knowledge, creating a strong sense of community. Many owners were delighted to visit the Rescue Centre and learn more about its activities.

A special highlight of the programme was the Best Camel Keeping Award. A government veterinary officer judged the participating camels based on welfare-focused criteria, including body condition, skin and coat health, cleanliness, proper harnessing, camel behaviour, and the quality of the camel-owner relationship.
Deserving owners were recognised with prizes for their exemplary husbandry practices.
