introducing Bhola & Jay: two new camels in our sponsorship family

We are proud to introduce two new camels AAA are now sponsoring, thanks to your kind donations. Their names are Bhola and Jay, and they live at Help in Suffering’s Camel Rescue Centre in Bassi, India.

Read their stories below:

Bhola is a 12-year-old male camel who was rescued from a fair in Jammu and Kashmir, where he had been used continuously for tourist rides. He was made to stand for long hours every day carrying a heavy iron seat, which caused him considerable stress and discomfort.

When rescued, he had multiple wounds and was in poor condition. He was first brought to safety in Haryana and later transferred to the Camel Rescue Centre (CRC) for long-term care.

Bhola has a strong personality and can be a little aggressive at times, but he continues to receive shelter, nutritious food, veterinary treatment and daily care at the CRC.

With regular treatment and compassionate handling, he will continue living in safety and comfort.

JAY(or JJ) is an 11-year-old male camel who was rescued from Faridabad, where he had been abandoned and left wandering for several months without proper food or water.

After his rescue, he was brought to the CRC, where he now receives shelter, regular food, veterinary treatment and daily care.

JJ has a calm and gentle nature. He has settled in well at the centre and especially enjoys eating peanut straw.

It is heartening to see him safe and being well cared for after enduring such a difficult time on the streets.

We can only sponsor these rescued camels due to your generous support.

Thank you for having a heart for working animals and for allowing these special souls to live out the rest of their lives in peace, safety and comfort.
