Special Treatment Camp Assists Over 200 Working Equines
Our fantastic partner group, Help in Suffering (HIS), recently held a camp for working equines at the Luniyawas Fair, or “Donkey Fair”.
With your compassionate support, they were able to assist 204 equines in need of veterinary care and treatment.
The annual “Donkey Fair” is held during the festive season of Navratri, where people from various regions come to sell and purchase donkeys and horses. This was the third consecutive year that HIS successfully managed a camp for working equines, and there was a noticeable increase in the number of cases compared to 2024.
During the camp, the team attended to numerous cases and conditions including anorexia, pica, wounds, lameness, genetic anomaly, diarrhoea, general weakness, corneal opacity and respiratory distress - mostly resulting from transportation stress. Additionally, cases of hygroma, skin diseases and tumours were examined and treated as necessary.
They also administered tetanus vaccinations, feed supplements and deworming treatment for donkeys, mules, foals, mares and horses.
At the Luniyawas Fair, animal owners from various districts of Rajasthan and neighbouring states participated. Many of these owners come from economically poorer regions and have limited awareness regarding animal health management. Since their livelihood primarily depends on these animals, the HIS team also conducted educational sessions to provide basic information on animal health and welfare.
Sincere thanks for your valuable support, which helped to make this camp a success.
