Alleviating the Suffering of India’s Working Equines

As usual, Help in Suffering’s (HIS) equine vets have been busy assisting working horses and donkeys in need. In June, they treated 19 equines for various conditions including colic, weakness, cancer and wounds. They also provided deworming and tetanus vaccinations.

A few cases are highlighted below:

Case One

A mare was brought in with mild colic pain. After receiving medication, her condition improved and she was discharged.

Case Two

An owner called Rajesh brought in three mares for treatment. One had a wound on her right forelimb. The vets dressed the wound, and administered antibiotics and painkillers.

Case Three

An owner, Murari, brought in his mare who was diagnosed with colic. The vet team provided fluid therapy along with pain management.

At HIS’s shelter in Bassi, eight donkeys, one stallion and a mule are currently being housed. They were recently dewormed and the donkeys’ hooves were all trimmed.

With your amazing support, HIS can continue assisting working equines in India, and greatly improve their lives and welfare.
