Six Animals Rescued + Over 600 Equines Receive Vet Care

With support from your wonderful donations, the hard-working Friendicoes’ team rescued six animals in need and provided 670 equines with veterinary care through their mobile clinic last month.

A wide variety of medical issues and injuries were seen, including:

  • Colic

  • Wounds

  • Lameness

  • Deworming

  • Digestive problems

  • Skin infection / allergy

  • Infectious diseases

  • Dental problems

  • Farrier cases

Stand-Out Cases from July

Colic (multiple cases)

  • Frequent lying down and getting up.

  • Caused by dehydration.

  • Pain killers and fluid therapy given.

  • Symptoms relieved following treatment.

Road accident

  • Accident with a truck.

  • Severe lacerated wound on hip.

  • Wound cleaned with antiseptics.

  • Wound sutured.

  • Antibiotics, pain killers and a tetanus vaccine given.

Fencing wire injury

  • Leg injury caused by fencing wire.

  • Lacerated wound.

  • Wound cleaned with antiseptics and dressed.

  • Antibiotics, pain killers and tetanus vaccine given.

Lacerated leg wound

  • Injury due to an iron rod.

  • Lacerated wound on inner side of leg.

  • Wound cleaned with antiseptics and dressed.

Hobble injury on hind leg

  • Hobbles tightly applied.

  • Due to friction and pressure, led to a lacerated wound.

  • Wound cleaned with antiseptics and dressed.

Eye injury

  • Eye injury due to head collar.

  • Eye washed with water.

  • Eye ointment applied.

July Rescues

Mare

  • Mare rescued from Gurgaon.

  • Abandoned due to old age.

  • Hind leg injured.

Donkey

  • Donkey rescued from Sainik farm, Delhi.

  • Hoof injury.

  • Rescued and brought to Friendicoes’ sanctuary.

Donkey

  • Donkey rescued from Sarai Kale Kha, Delhi.

  • Rescued and brought to Gurgaon Shelter.

Mare

  • Elderly Mare rescued from Gurgaon Highway.

  • Blind in one eye.

  • Rescued and brought to the sanctuary.

Donkey

  • Donkey rescued from Nizamuddin railway station.

  • Hoof damaged.

  • Rescued and brought to Friendicoes’ sanctuary.

Pony

  • Pony Rescued from Sainik farm, Delhi.

  • Rescued and brought to the sanctuary.

Field Paravet Program

During July, Friendicoes’ dedicated paravets provided follow-up visits and medical care for no less than 414 equines!

Friendicoes are able to assist so many equines in need due to your incredible ongoing support. These animals endure so much on the streets of India but, together, we are alleviating suffering and changing their lives.
