From Pain & Injury to Relief & Comfort: Treating Equines on the Streets of India

Animal Aid Abroad (AAA), together with our partner Friendicoes, is transforming the welfare of working equines in India through mobile veterinary clinics, rescues, and sanctuary care. These animals endure grueling work and harsh conditions on busy streets, but Friendicoes is there to provide lifesaving treatment, relief, and dignity..

Equine Mobile Clinic: April Impact

In April, Friendicoes treated 840 equines, addressing conditions such as:

  • Colic and dehydration

  • Wounds from road accidents and harness injuries

  • Lameness and farrier cases

  • Skin infections and allergies

  • Dental problems and digestive issues

  • Vaccinations and deworming

Specific cases included:

  • Road accidents causing lacerated wounds, treated with antiseptics, sutures, antibiotics, and tetanus vaccines.

  • Harness injuries leading to back and chest wounds, cleaned and dressed to prevent infection.

  • Chemical burns from unsafe local treatments, managed with thorough cleaning, antibiotics, and pain relief.

April Rescues: Mule & Pony Find Safety

Friendicoes rescued two abandoned animals:

  • A mule from Jangpura Flyover

  • A pony from Noida

Both are now safe at the Friendicoes sanctuary, receiving long‑term care and protection.

Field Paravet Program

Dedicated paravets provided follow‑up care for 496 equines, ensuring continuity of treatment and monitoring recovery. This grassroots support extends the reach of veterinary services into communities where equines are most vulnerable.

Global Impact Made Possible by You

Every wound healed, every rescue, and every act of compassion is powered by your generosity. Together, AAA and Friendicoes are turning burden into care and proving that local partnerships are the key to global change — ensuring that India’s working equines receive the relief, comfort, and dignity they deserve.
