Israel ~ Monthly update in the hope complex

In September, the Hope Complex housed 78 donkeys who needed extra care and treatment due to acute medical conditions.

Two female donkeys were admitted to the ICU :

  • One jenny with a progressive eye disease, who is gradually losing her sight.

  • Another new jenny, very old with partial vision, for acclimatisation in the geriatric area ('Hope compound B').

This month, 5 donkeys left the Hope Complex:

  • One jenny moved to the veteran herd after a long period of acclimatisation and socialisation, including hoof rehabilitation, but mostly emotional rehabilitation. (Along the way, she also gave birth to a female foal that unfortunately did not survive).

  • Two donkeys moved to our senior care area to free up space in the geriatric complex, which is really overflowing.

  • One jenny moved to the veteran herd after about two months of initial rehabilitation for her hoof and acclimatisation at the shelter.

  • One jenny moved to the maternity area and gave birth to a cute little male foal.
