Key Challenges Faced

-        Wounds, back sores and saddle- or riding-related injuries were recurring concerns in the register, requiring appropriate wound care and follow-up.

-        Appetite-related complaints and respiratory illness were recorded; cases require monitoring and follow-up according to the attending veterinary team’s advice.

-        Dermatitis, fungal infection and thrush were recorded. Hygiene, hoof care and suitable equipment use remain important preventive-care considerations.

-        Sometimes horse owners take their horses for working before our arrival even after receiving information about our arrival.

Conclusion

September’s treatment register reflects continued mobile veterinary support for working animals in Chennai. The 38 recorded cases covered a broad range of injury, illness and preventive-care needs. Continued mobile outreach, appropriate follow-up and preventive guidance for handlers remain important.
