HELP HAS BEGUN for 5000 donkeys left stranded after sudden closure of Chinese donkey skin abattoir in Tanzania - THANKS TO YOU!!

Thanks to your kindness, AAA was able to transfer emergency funding to our partner group, Tanzania Humane Charity (TAHUCHA), which has enabled the commencement of urgent treatment, food, and water to donkeys in dire need. These donkeys were left to perish after the abattoir closed.

"The situation with donkeys in Shinyanga is beyond description… the donkey skin brokers supplied the slaughter house with donkeys for many years, the donkey was no longer a sentient being, it was treated as a raw material, either arrived weak/dead, it was a raw material for the slaughter house which slaughtered donkeys for their skins. We bought food, for one week for 2000 donkeys, but we found more groups of donkeys in need and therefore the need is beyond description. Our first priority is to help the mothers and foals, weak and injured” [ Richard Itaba - Program Coordinator TAHUCHA]

AAA’s goal is to get the most vulnerable and weak donkeys fed, watered and treated, then as soon as possible get most donkeys back to their rightful owners. A number of donkeys who are not fit for transportation or no longer fit to work will be taken to our donkey sanctuary in Bukombe, about 1 1/2 hour drive from Shinyanga.
