Treatment and education the key to avoiding harnessing injuries in Meru

Meru Animal Welfare Organization (MAWO) recently carried out a donkey clinic at Orkesumet Village in Simanjiro. A total of 150 donkeys were dewormed, and 16 donkeys with wounds were treated. 12 of the wounds were caused by poor harnessing, and 4 of them from fellow donkey bites.

As part of the treatment, the owners were educated about proper harnessing techniques to avoid injuries like this from occurring.

MAWO also donated 4 water troughs to 2 villages to allow the working donkeys in the area access to fresh clean drinking water while they work.

MAWO are doing a fantastic job in helping to improve the lives of the working animals in Meru.
