Safety, Peace & Dignity: The Israeli Sanctuary that Heals Rescued Donkeys
Forty-six rescued donkeys in Israel are currently receiving the special love and care they always deserved, thanks to your incredible support.
Read about a few of their stories below:
In October, six donkeys entered the Hope Compound:
One jenny who stayed at the compound a few months ago for a successful treatment of proud flesh returned last month for the same reason (a new lesion at a different location).
Four new jennies who arrived at the sanctuary entered the compound -
One of them is young and very thin, so she was started on a special diet to help her gain weight.
The other three donkeys need a period of adjustment to their new surroundings, including observation by the team. Two of them are thin, and the third arrived with mild superficial injuries and is timid.
The last jenny to enter the compound is elderly and has been moved in from the geriatric area in the infirmary to continue her special diet.
Six donkeys also left the compound in October:
A mother and son who entered the compound in August to treat the son’s skin left following successful completion of his treatment.
One jenny left following successful treatment of her eye.
One jenny who was at the compound for almost two years was finally able to leave. Her vision is impaired, and she was initially very scared. At first, it seemed she would be a permanent resident of the compound. However, after staff observed a significant improvement in her vitality over the last few months, it was decided to let her live in a larger area, where she will enjoy more space.
Sadly, two beloved donkeys passed away recently:
One donkey, who was very old and blind. He used to receive a special diet due to his dental condition. He passed away unexpectedly.
The other, also an elderly male donkey, rapidly developed an aggressive form of colic and died despite medical interventions.
As always, we are incredibly grateful for your compassionate support and kind donations, which are making an enormous difference in the lives of donkeys and other animals around the globe.
