Helping Rescued Donkeys Heal with Special Care & Rehabilitation
Due to your wonderful support, Starting Over in Israel cared for 43 rescued donkeys in their Hope Compound last month.
Four jennies entered the compound:
One jenny with a known orthopedic disorder of her front hooves. She will undergo rehabilitation, including several special hoof trims.
An older jenny who developed an acute eye infection. She is already blind in that eye and also needs to gain weight.
And two more donkeys, who are new to the sanctuary:
One jenny has a gynaecological wound and irritated skin below her eyes. She is also undergoing psychological rehabilitation as she arrived very scared of people.
The other, thin and frail, is missing a few teeth and requires special feedings.
Four jennies also left the compound last month:
One following improvement of her skin condition.
Another following several special hoof trimmings.
Another jenny left after the wound from proud flesh removal healed.
One left following dental treatments.
The first three donkeys moved to the rehabilitated herd, whereas the last jenny moved to the old donkeys' compound.
Thank you so much for your invaluable support, which allows Starting Over to care for these vulnerable donkeys and give them a second chance at life.
