Nowzad a Lifeline for Animals in Distress

Nowzad’s dedicated Working Animal Team in Kabul treated 84 equines for a wide range of ailments during July. They also assisted 29 other animals in need, including cows and goats.

They saw multiple cases of colic, diarrhoea and malnutrition / anorexia, plus respiratory issues, limping, wounds, parasites, hypocalcaemia and an eye tumour.

Sadly, they lost one poor horse who had extreme colic and had been left too long, plus a donkey with an advanced prolapse.

Nowzad responded to two emergency call outs in July and hospitalised five animals with more serious conditions. Additionally, they dewormed 32 equines and their farrier attended to 17 equines for hoof management.

Incredibly, the Nowzad team managed to achieve all of this while relocating their hospital and donkey sanctuary - a mammoth task!
