With your invaluable support, Friendicoes provided 810 working equines with essential veterinary treatments last month. Their Equine Mobile Clinic is a lifeline for injured or sick horses, ponies and donkeys working on the streets of India, offering compassionate care and relief from suffering. In addition, they rescued three more animals during July.

Equine Mobile Clinic

 810 animals were treated for various problems in July. Conditions seen included:

  • Colic

  • Wound dressings

  • Lameness

  • Deworming

  • Digestive problems

  • Vaccinations

  • Skin infections / allergies

  • Infectious diseases

  • Dental problems

  • Farrier cases

Colic

  • Indicated by frequently lying down and getting up again

  • Can be caused by dehydration

  • Pain killers are administered and fluid therapy given

  • Symptoms are relived with treatment

forelimb Wound

  • Lacerated wound on forelimb

  • Caused by sharp fencing wire

  • Wound was cleaned with antiseptics and dressed

  • Antibiotics, pain killers and tetanus vaccine administered

Lacerated wound on Hip

  • Caused by a train accident

  • Huge lacerated wound on hip area

  • Wound was cleaned with antiseptics and sutured

  • Antibiotics, pain killers and tetanus vaccine given

Dog bite wound

  • Dog bite wound on shoulder area

  • Wound was cleaned with antiseptics and dressed

  • Rabies and tetanus vaccines given

Perineal lacerated wound

  • Improper rope led to laceration under tail area

  • Wound was cleaned with antiseptics and dressed

  • Pain killers and a tetanus vaccine were administered

Lacerated hock wound

  • Accident with a vehicle

  • Wound cleaned with antiseptics and dressed

  • Pain killers and tetanus vaccine given

Capped elbow

  • Trauma to elbow while sitting on hard surface

  • Fluid drained out, anti-inflammatory cream applied

  • Pain killers and a tetanus vaccine administered

july rescues

Donkey

  • An abandoned donkey was found in Sector 52 in Gurgaon.

  • He was rescued and brought to our sanctuary.

Pony

  • A pony was rescued from Ambala Cantonment, Haryana.

  • Had been involved in a train accident.

  • He was rescued and brought to the shelter.

Pony

  • A pony was rescued from Sector 31 in Gurgaon.

  • She is blind.

  • The pony was rescued and brought to our shelter.

Field Paravet Program

During July, the dedicated Friendicoes’ paravet team attended to 519 equines. They provide basic medical and follow-up care.
