Our partner group, Friendicoes, run a mobile vet clinic for equines working on the streets of India. These animals have gruelling days in harsh environments and often endure severe illnesses or injuries without proper care. However, with your wonderful support, the Friendicoes team can reach these horses, mules, ponies and donkeys to alleviate their suffering.

870 animals were treated for various conditions in August, including:
Colic
Wound dressings
Lameness
Deworming
Digestive problems
Vaccination
Skin infection / allergy
Infectious diseases
Dental problems
Farrier issues
Case studies
Colic:
Involves frequent lying down and getting up again.
Often caused by dehydration.
Treatment includes pain killers and fluid therapy.
Symptoms are relieved with medication.
Wounds
Lacerated foreleg wound:
Sharp fencing wire injury.
Wound cleaned with antiseptics and dressed.
Antibiotics, pain killer and tetanus vaccine given.
Hip wound:
Road accident causing lacerated wound to hip area.
Wound cleaned with antiseptics and sutured.
Antibiotics, pain killer and tetanus vaccine given.
Eye injury:
Accident with a vehicle causing a lacerated wound above the eye.
Wound cleaned with antiseptics and dressed.
Antibiotics, pain killer and tetanus vaccine given.
Lacerated wound around hock:
Accident with a vehicle.
Wound was cleaned with antiseptics and dressed.
Pain killer and tetanus vaccine given.
august rescues
Pony:
A pony was rescued from Zamrudpur, New Delhi.
She had been abandoned.
The pony is now safe at Friendicoes’ shelter.
Mule:
A mule was rescued from Badshahpur.
She had a tendon injury.
The mule was safely taken to the shelter.
Field Paravet Program
In August, Friendicoes’ hardworking paravet team treated 523 working equines. They provide basic medical care and follow-up treatments.
