Tanzania Humane Charity (TAHUCHA) - June Activity

Plastic waste is a problem for everyone, but it’s when innocent animals ingest it and suffer severe intestinal issues as a result that we can see how detrimental the issue is to not just humans, but animals too. During June, the team at TAHUCHA had to deal with just such a situation when they came across a donkey who had ingested plastic and they needed to intervene and manually remove the plastic from the poor donkey’s digestive tract.

Overall, during June 168 donkeys were permanently living at the TAHUCHA sanctuary , 11 donkeys were rescued and hospitalised, receiving treatment until full recovery. 26 donkeys that had been rescued and treated have now been released to their owners after recovering.

Aside from this the TAHUCHA team continue their donkey education program, veterinary ambulance clinic, harnessing program and house visits.
