Alexandria, Egypt Clinic opening April 09Written by AAA Created Saturday, 10 January 2009 AAA clinic to open soon in Alexandria, EgyptAfter a long 18 months of negotiations, persistence, fundraising and finding the right people, Animal Aid Abroad is finally about to open the first animal welfare vet clinic in Alexandria, Egypt. We have formed a local charity group, which will become officially registered in Alexandria called Animal Aid Egypt led by a great group of women that we are very grateful and happy to be working with. Our clinic will help the many thousands of stray cats and dogs in Alexandria [Egypt's second largest city]. The clinic will be available to help all animals but will concentrate on the stray animals in the city as well as the working animals including the donkeys, mules, horses and camels. Our clinic will also include a mobile vet service for farm animals. We have hired two vets, Dr Mohamed Nagi and Dr Hamza who are currently doing extra training in Cairo under the expert guidance of Dr Nour Hashish and Dr Mohamed Hegab at the Pet Vet Clinic [ http://www.petvetclinic.net/home.html ]. They will spend a month at this facility learning the latest techniques and procedures of animal surgery and care. In February they will then train for a month with Dr Mourad Ragheb from the Donkey Sanctuary [ www.thedonkeysanctuary.org.uk/view/egypt ] in the Giza area of Cairo. The Donkey sanctuary are a very well respected and successful UK based charity that supports the Society for the Protection of Donkeys and Mules in Egypt [SPWDME]. We have found a street level apartment in a good location of the city that is very suitable for our clinic. Our group is now busily getting it ready while our vets are doing their extra training in Cairo. By the end of April 2009 we will be in operation. If you would like to contribute something towards the purchase of a certain item for our clinic or would like to assist us in any other way with our costs you can go to our sponsorship page and see the list of items you can sponsor.
